The Airmen's Stories - Sgt. G G S Laws

George Godfrey Stone Laws was born in October 1919, the son of Charles Laws (1874-1937) and Jessie Laws (nee Stone 1874-1956) of Ruthin, Denbighshire.

His parents ran the town's only off-licence and a sweet shop there.

He was educated at Ruthin School and Denbigh High School and joined the RAFVR about April 1939 as an Airman u/t Pilot. Called up on 1st September 1939, he completed his training and went to 5 OTU Aston Down on 1st September 1940.

After converting to Hurricanes Laws joined 151 Squadron at Digby on 28th September. He moved to 605 Squadron at Croydon on 19th October and then went to 501 Squadron at Kenley next day.

On 28th March 1941 Laws was killed in Hurricane V6841. The aircraft stalled on its final approach to Filton and spun into the ground at Stoke Gifford.

Laws was 21 and is buried in St. Meugans churchyard, Llanrhydd, Llanbedr.
