The Airmen's Stories - P/O G J Elliott
George James Elliott of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada was commissioned in the RCAF Special Reserve on 6th November 1939.
He learned to fly on Course 4 (1st February - 23rd May 1940) at Camp Borden, Ontario and was then posted to England as a member of 112 (Army Co-operation)(RCAF) Squadron.
On 21st September 1940 Elliott and eight other pilots from 112 (RCAF) Squadron arrived at 6 OTU Sutton Bridge for conversion to Hurricanes. Elliott was posted to 615 Squadron at Prestwick on 5th October and moved to 607 Squadron at Tangmere on the 9th.
His subsequent service is currently undocumented until 1943 when he had returned to Canada and was serving with 132 Squadron at Boundary Bay, British Columbia.
On 6th November 1943 he was posted to Patricia Bay, BC to take command of 111 Squadron.
Elliott was released from the RCAF on 4th June 1946 as a Squadron Leader.
