18th September 2005
A service of Thanksgiving and Rededication was held in the
morning in Westminster Abbey.
This service is held every year as part of Battle of Britain
Sunday.
Over 2,000 people attended this year, including the Prince
of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall and all the people who later
attended the unveiling of the monument.
The ensign of the Royal Air Force is paraded at this ceremony.
The service concluded with the Act of Rededication which goes
as follows:
"Let us rededicate ourselves to building a world in which
there is justice and peace for all, and where women, men and
children live a life of full human dignity."
