Queen Elizabeth II was presented with a maquette (small bronze
model) of part of the monument at a ceremony in Buckingham Palace.
The monument will honour the airmen who fought under RAF fighter
command between July and October 1940.
The Queen showed great interest in the entire project and
discussed details with the members of the fundraising committee
who made the presentation.
