The Airmen's Stories - P/O D N Woodger
David Noel Woodger of Old Coulsdon, Surrey was born on 8th May 1920, the son of Reginald White Woodger and Edith Muriel Woodger (nee Marsh).
He joined the RAF on a short service commission in July 1939.
He was posted to 235 Squadron in March 1940.
He was captain of Blenheim T1804 which was shot down in error by Hurricanes of 1 (RCAF) Squadron over Thorney Island on 24th August 1940. The Canadians were on their first operational sortie. The aircraft crashed into Bracklesham Bay.
Sgt. DL Wright was killed and Woodger was reported 'Missing'.
His portrait hangs at the RAFA Portcullis Club at Kenley. (below)

Woodger was 20 and is remembered on the Runnymede Memorial, Panel 10.
