The Airmen's Stories - Sgt. K Taylor

 

Kenneth Taylor was born on 3rd June 1920. He joined the RAF on 7th November 1938 as an Aircrafthand. He later volunteered for aircrew duties, completed a radar course and joined 29 Squadron in July 1940.

 


Taylor was attached to 600 Squadron on 25th September. He was promoted to Sergeant whilst with 600 and had rejoined 29 Squadron by late October 1940.


Commissioned from Warrant Officer in April 1944, he was awarded the DFC (gazetted 1st June 1945) as a Pilot Officer with 307 Squadron, operating Mosquitos from Castle Camps.


Taylor retired from the RAF on 7th June 1971 as a Squadron Leader.


He died in 1989.
