The Airmen's Stories - Sgt. T N Menage

Thomas Nathan Menage was born on 27th June 1914 in Epsom, the son of William Frederick Menage and Amy Lillie Menage (nee Bursnell).

He joined the RAF in November 1934 as an Aircrafthand.

He married Phyllis Eileen Schweim, a secretary, on 23rd December 1939 at St. Phillips Church on Cheam Common.

After the outbreak of war he remustered as an Air Gunner and after completing his training joined 29 Squadron at Digby in September 1940.

He was posted away to 11 OTU on 4th February 1941. He was killed on 10th May 1941 as a Sergeant with 149 Squadron, operating in Wellingtons from Mildenhall.

Wellington Ic R1512 OJ-H was lost without trace on a raid to Hamburg.
