The Airmen's Stories - Sgt. C V Meeson
Charles Victor Meeson, of Loughton, Essex, was born on 22nd June 1919, the son of Charles Jonas Meeson and Violet Mary Meeson (nee Clark).
In the 1939 Census he is listed as 'Pupil Engineer Luton'.
Meeson joined the RAFVR in June 1939 as an Airman u/t Pilot. Called up on 1st September, he completed his training at 6 FTS, Little Rissington and arrived at 6 OTU, Sutton Bridge on 3rd August 1940.
After converting to Hurricanes, Meeson was posted to 56 Squadron at North Weald on 31st August.
He was killed on 20th September 1940 in a flying accident during a formation practice when his Hurricane L1595 came down west of Bulford Camp, near Amesbury. He was 21 and is buried in Loughton Burial Ground.
