The Airmen's Stories - Sgt. A R D Maconochie

 

Alfred Rippon Duke Maconochie was born on 12th May 1916. He joined the RAF in November 1938 as an Aircrafthand but later volunteered for aircrew and remustered as an Airman u/t WOp/AG.

With his training completed, he joined 235 Squadron at Bircham Newton on 16th July 1940.

His subsequent service is currently undocumented until he was commissioned in October 1941.

Maconochie stayed in the RAF postwar in the Aircraft Control Branch.

He retired on 2nd March 1960 as a Flight Lieutenant, retaining the rank of Squadron Leader.

He died in Ramsgate on 11th June 1995.
