The Airmen's Stories - P/O M Kellett

 

Michael Kellett was born on 25th September 1917 in from Stratford-on-Avon and joined the RAFVR about February 1939 as an Airman u/t Pilot.

Called up on 1st September 1939, he completed his training at Cranwell FTS (below), converted to Hurricanes and then joined 111 Squadron at Drem on 2nd October 1940.

 

 

 

 

His subsequent service is currently undocumented until October 1944, when he took command of 504 Squadron, the second squadron to receive Meteor jets.

Kellett was awarded the DFC (gazetted 21st November 1944).

He married in January 1948 (below).

 

 

He retired from the RAF on 19th June 1956 as a Squadron Leader, retaining the rank of Wing Commander.

Kellett died on 28th August 1975.
