The Airmen's Stories - AC F Fildes

Frank Fildes enlisted in the RAFVR at Padgate about June 1940. He volunteered for aircrew duties and ws sent on a short radar course.

With his training completed, Fildes joined 25 Squadron at Debden in October 1940 and flew his first operation on the 25th.

During the night of 15th/16th November 1940, Fildes was aloft in a Blenheim with pilot Sgt. SV Holloway and gunner Sgt. JD Culmer. They sighted and destroyed a Do17 near Harlow, Essex just before midnight.

His subsequent service is currently undocumented but it is known that he was commissioned in 1944 and is mentioned as still serving in the London Gazette in 1954.
