The Airmen's Stories - Sgt. J R Farrow
John Robinson Farrow, of Eastleigh, Hampshire, was born on 30th April 1916, the son of John Robinson Farrow and Constance Mildred Farrow.
He became a teacher and later joined the RAFVR in February 1939 as an Airman u/t Pilot.
Called up on 1st September 1939 he completed his training at 9 FTS and arrived at 6 OTU for conversion to Hurricanes on 17th August 1940. He was then posted to 229 Squadron at Wittering in September 1940.
On 8th October 1940 Farrow lost formation in cloud and fell, out of control, over Bovingdon. His Hurricane, V6820, broke up in the air at 200ft. and he was killed.
Farrow was 24 years old and is buried at Northwood Cemetery.
