The Airmen's Stories - Sgt. D A Easton
David Albert Easton was born on 9th March 1917 and attended Bickley Park School in Bromley. He went on to Dulwich College and was assigned to Drake House.
On leaving he took up a position at Morgan Grenfell, claiming that he was considered to be a useful addition to their cricket team.
Easton joined the RAFVR about March 1939 as an Airman u/t Pilot. Called up on 1st September 1939, he completed his training and joined 248 Squadron on 25th September 1940.
Commissioned in July 1942, he later served with 201 Squadron, flying Sunderland flying boats on anti-submarine and convoy protection sorties.
In 1945 Easton joined BOAC, operating flying boats on routes to South Africa. After 1972 he flew with Olympic Airways and Pakistan International Airlines, retiring as a Boeing 707 captain.
Easton died on 4th January 2010.
