The Airmen's Stories - Sgt. W H Dulwich

 

William Howard Dulwich was born in 1919, the son of Charles Dulwich and Florence Gertrude Plucknett of Southend-on-Sea, Essex.

Employed as a taxation consultant, he joined the RAFVR about July 1939 as an Airman u/t Aircrew. After completing his training he joined 206 Squadron as a Wireless Operator/Air Gunner. He moved to 235 Squadron, operating Blenheims, on 24th August 1940.

By August 1941 he was serving with 22 Squadron and was killed on the 2nd when his Beaufort I X8919 OA-W was shot down off Vlissingen. Dulwich was reported 'Missing' though the other crew were rescued and taken prisoner (F/O AP Culverwell, Sgt. HC Friend, Sgt. R Tanfield).

Dulwich is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial, panel 36.
