The Airmen's Stories - P/O B DAVEY

Brian Davey was born in January 1919, the son of Ernest Davey (1871-1961) and Violet Maude Davey (nee Meade 1887-1964).

He joined the RAFVR in February 1939 as an Airman u/t Pilot. He was called up on 1st September, completed his training and was commissioned in May 1940.

It is very likely that he was posted to 150 Squadron after its withdrawal trom France, where it flew Battles with the AASF. It is also likely that Davey volunteered for Fighter Command and was posted from 150 to 504 Squadron on 9th September 1940 and moved to 30 Squadron a week later.

On the 28th Davey went to 257 Squadron at Martlesham Heath.

He married Valerie Pauline West in October 1940 in Southend.

Davey shared in the destruction of an Italian Fiat BR20 on 11th November 1940.
