The Airmen's Stories - LAC A G Dannatt
Alexander George Dannatt was born on 28th July 1915 and was recorded as a 'Shop Assistant CWS' in the 1939 Census.
He joined the RAF as an Aircrafthand in June 1940. He volunteered for flying duties and was sent on a short radar course at Yatesbury, after which he joined 29 Squadron at Digby in September.
He flew four sorties during the Battle of Britain period, on 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th October.
He was still serving with 29 Squadron on 8th December 1940 but on non-operational duties.
His subsequent service is currently undocumented though it is known that he survived the war and died on 16th December 1982 in Rotherham, Yorkshire.
