The Airmen's Stories - AC2 K Butterworth

 

Kenneth Butterworth was born on 18th July 1920 and was recorded in the 1939 Census as being employed as a Motor Driver in Eccles.

He joined the RAFVR in June 1940 at 3 RAF Depot, Padgate as an Aircrafthand. After a short radar course at RAF Yatesbury he joined 23 Squadron at Collyweston and served with it in the Battle of Britain.

He was still serving with the squadron in November 1940.

His subsequent service is currently undocumented until he was awarded a Mention in Dispatches as a Warrant Officer (gazetted 1st January 1946).

Butterworth died in December 2002 in Norwich.
