The Airmen's Stories - P/O M K Brown

Marvin Kitchener Brown was born on 18th April 1916 in Durham, Ontario, Canada, the son of William John Brown and Annie Brown. His mother was born in Brotton, Yorkshire.

He joined the RAF on a short service commission in March 1939. After completing his training he was posted to 242 Squadron at Church Fenton on 6th November.

Brown was sent to France on 16th May 1940 and attached to 85 Squadron. Two days later, in combat with Me110s of I/ZG76 near Le Cateau, he was shot down in Hurricane N2320 LE*H and suffered bullet wounds in the right leg. He was evacuated to England and rejoined 242 Squadron on 13th July.

Brown was on a local flight in Hurricane N2476 on 21st February 1941 when he crashed at Grange Farm, Alderton, Suffolk and was killed.

He is buried in Ipswich cemetery.
