The Airmen's Stories - AC2 F Booth
Fred Booth joined the RAFVR at Padgate in June 1940 as an Airman u/t Wireless Operator. He later went to RAF Yatesbury for a short radar course, after which he joined 23 Squadron at Wittering on 22nd August.
He flew his first operational sortie on the 24th and continued to operate with 23 Squadron for the remainder of the Battle of Britain period. He was still serving with the squadron in November 1940.
His subsequent service is currently undocumented, there is more than one Fred Booth recorded in the CWGC casualty roll but it has not been possible to prove conclusively that he is one of them.
