The Airmen's Stories - Sgt. G W Tabor
George William Tabor, from Essex, joined the RAF about August 1939 as an Airman u/t Pilot. Called up on 1st September, he completed his training at 12 EFTS and 10 FTS before being posted to 65 Squadron at Turnhouse on 2nd September 1940. He moved to 152 Squadron at Warmwell on 9th October.

His Spitfire, N3176, was damaged in a surprise attack by Me109's over Portland on 10th November 10 and Tabor landed back at base with a burst tyre, unhurt.
He was killed on 23rd July 1941 as a Flight Sergeant with 603 Squadron when his Spitfire Va W3184 was shot down on a sweep. Tabor was 21 years old.
He is buried in Longuenesse Souvenir Cemetery, France.
