The Airmen's Stories - F/O R Smither

 

Born in London, Ontario on November 12 1912 Ross Smither joined the RCAF on September 10th 1930. He was with No 1 (RCAF) Squadron when it arrived in the UK on June 20th 1940.

Smither claimed a Me109 damaged on August 31st and a Me110 destroyed and another damaged on September 4th.

He was shot down and killed by Me109’s over Tunbridge Wells on the 15th, in Hurricane P3876.


Smither was 27 years old and is buried in Brookwood Military Cemetery.
