The Airmen's Stories - F/O P S C Pollard

Philip Selwyn Covey Pollard came from Kingston, Surrey and joined the RAF on a short-service commission in September 1938. He was serving with 611 Squadron at Digby in May 1940 and stayed with them throughout the Battle, claiming a Do17 shared on 15th September and two more shared on 11th October.

On 22nd June 1941 611 was acting as top cover for bombers attacking Hazebrouck marshalling yards during Circus 16. His Spitfire Va R7209 was shot down by Me109’s and Pollard was killed.

Pollard was 21 and is buried in Dunkirk Cemetery.
