The Airmen's Stories - P/O O J Peterson

Otto John Peterson was born in Eckville, Atlanta, USA on March 14th 1915, joined the RCAF on November 7th 1938 and was with No 1 (RCAF) Squadron when it arrived in the UK on June 20th 1940.

He claimed a Do17 damaged on September 1st, a Me110 damaged on the 4th, a Me109 destroyed on the 9th and shared a Do17 on the 25th. Peterson was shot down and killed in combat with Ju88’s and Me110’s over North Kent on September 27th.

His Hurricane P3647 crashed at Hever, Kent.

Peterson was 25. He is buried in Brookwood Military Cemetery.
