The Airmen's Stories - Sgt. W Nixon

 

William Nixon, from Sheffield, joined the RAF in June 1940 and trained as a Radar Operator. He was posted to 23 Squadron, flying Blenheims from Middle Wallop, on 24th September 1940 and flew his first operational sortie on the 28th.

In May 1943 he was commissioned but was killed on 30th August 1944 while serving as a Flying Officer with 103 Squadron, operating Lancasters from Elsham Wolds, Lincolnshire.

Nixon was 23 and lies in Kiel War Cemetery, Germany.
