The Airmen's Stories - Sgt. J D Cameron

James Douglas Cameron, of Edinburgh, joined the RAFVR in April 1939 as an Airman u/t Wireless Operator/Air Gunner. Called to full time service on 1st September 1939, he completed his training and was posted to 604 Squadron, serving with it throughout the Battle of Britain. Later transferring to Bomber Command he was posted to 9 Squadron at Honington, Suffolk. His Wellington X3369 was lost on 9th May 1942 on a raid over Warnemunde. Cameron was 23 and is buried in the Berlin War Cemetery.
